Philosophy
Children are active participants in creating their own learning environment.
- Play is children's work. Play will be child directed, interest based, freely chosen, fun and provide the opportunity for a challenge
- A play-based learning program will be provided which is designed to stimulate children's love of learning, exploration and social concepts
- Children's inherent connection to the natural world and the outdoor environment will be encouraged and celebrated
- Children will have the opportunity to explore dirt, sand, water, grass and all natural elements without restriction
- Children are encouraged to make choices about their day
Families feel a sense of belonging and partnership working with staff at Tree House Child Care
- Family consultation will be encouraged to review centre policies, practice and philosophy
- Families and the community are encouraged to actively participate in the centre's daily activities
- Families actively participate in their child's learning
- Every child will be treated as an individual
- No child will be discriminated against on the basis of gender, age, race, religion, language, ability, culture, national origin or socio-economic status
- Outdoor play and learning is highly valued and promoted by all staff
- Mutually respectful and trusting relationships between children and adults will be the aim of all interactions
Staff aim to achieve excellence in their role as educators and nurturers, thereby earning the respect of children, families and other professionals within the community
The Tree House Community, which consists of children, families and staff, will work to improve the way of life for children and their families.
- Positive attitudes towards sustainable environmental values, practices, and educational programs will be promoted
- The centre's criteria for equipment purchases will promote recycle, reusable, natural, environmentally friendly resources
- Have a no plastic bag program
- Raise money for a Local Community group each year
